Holly

Just a few notes to start with.

Holly being slow growing is a relatively 'hard' wood. Neighbours wanted some felled as leaves were falling in their pool. To avoid a prolonged argument about the ownership and responsibility for the wall the holly had roots in, I agreed that the neighbours could hire a tree surgeon to fell the holly and other trees of concern on ELF property.

I had previously felled some score of trees and on one occasion, with the help of Gavin, felled a few more and cleared a better track for the 'tree surgeons' access.

The condition I had was that holly would be felled in such a way as to leave me with trucks that were some ten feet in length being they were 'straight' and I could then use them for columns or stanchions as I am keen to build a porch to the cabin. There seems to be four very useful trunks from the one growth.

I now have four sticks of some 10ft in length, with diameter from 3" to 4"
