Maize, Sweet Corn 2024

I am planting out at least 3 different smaller plots with specifically selected seeds cyrnels
There seems to be two main strains
a) Shrunken, white and yellow
b) Plump, also white and yellow

maize kernels
Shivelled at the top, plump at the bottom

PLOT 1

As I want to cultivate some for grinding my first set of around 60 45 will be yellow.

March 8th: 3rd bed, past the wheat, east of the greenhouse

March 20th Only 45 fitted in the plot, under jars.

March 21st

March 22nd Ten of the aforementioned 60 are under jars by the fig tree, a few more to go in and I am soaking 32 shrivelled yellow seeds to build up a plot of some 42+
April 9th: Struggling with temp after jars removed. Leaves loose their colour.

April 9th: This is largely yellow shrivelled type.

Curious to see how they will fare given the fig trees unrestrained root, though I did remove some in the maize direction.

April 16th: Soaking 30
April 20th: Potted 13 that are sprouting and final prep to the bed.
April 27th: 20 are 🌱 so should plant out in the next few days.
April 28th: 25 are 🌱 although 3 only showed root growth.
