A week ago, after 'Goretti' I found a 60cm piece of sycamore branch sticking vertically out of the track, clearly that could have been fatal as could many other falls.
January 16th: I decided to fell the tree of origin. I had been tempted to leave it as it seemed to post little danger. It took ages to get the chainsaw up and running maybe 16 to 19 minutes. Well I was, as always a bit nervous, but all went OK..

January 18th: Removed over 10 feet of the base of the trunk to allow access along the bottom of the△. The rest of the tree can lie through summer to dry and be logged and stashed in autumn.
