Wagon 2021 ~ 2024

April 17th, 2021

2024

  • Oct. 7th: Still to wire both lights and add switches
  • Sept 28th: Clearing small hazel from the back and front and general surround tidying with the idea of moving the wagon.
    Painting lower parts brown . . ..
  • Sept 27th: Lit stove to dry external paint, that went fine but there is too much air intake to keep the fire low.
Placed battery on shelf and connected one light and the solar panel. The panel definitely charges the battery and had to be turned away from the sun.
  • Sept 26th: More external painting, on door and that end and some on the 'back' . . .
  • Sept 25th: Cleaned outside of stove.
  • Sept 19th: Paint roof above 'kitchen' touch up other places, paint part north face, paint part door. Batteries: Two small are dead so wire in the Halfords 41Ah
  • Sept 18th: Pretty much cleaned and painted inside. Batteries require work. Second coat on front.
  • Sept 17th: Charged one of the batteries as neither lights would work.
  • Sept 16th: Cleared more flaky paint, fixed cupboard doors, put away cardboard, place some wood in box, taped over some cracks, removed a few items
  • July 11th: Removed some flaky paint and part of the ceiling to expose the damp area. It appears as though there was a hole in the roof for a flue.
  • May 19th: Re-oiled the roof

2023

October 18th Have cleaned and re-oiling the roof and re-coated the door

2021 Fixing the door

October 21st Replacing main door, which is a split (stable) door
Lower part of door from inside and outside
November 7th Spent a few days working on the top. The rebate for the glass will be painted to stop the putty drying quickly by the oil being absorbed by bare wood. The beading will also be painted on the inner sides.
Frame finished without woodtreatment
17th Nov: Fitted and temp glazed but requires more work 18th Nov: Tar-oiled the top door. Finished preparing beading 19th Nov: Beading three straight edges
Top door needs bottom hinge spacer: 19th Nov
23rd Nov: Fitted pull handle and bolt to lock top to bottom.
Door from inside.
24th Nov: Another coating of oil on the 'doors'
Inside repainted and tided etc. April 20th 2021.

2021 Outer paint work

On arrival it was pink and was painted red but that has become very flaky and over the last two days Gavin has used a power grinder with steel brush to bring the surface to a more stable footing.

Wagon brushed and oiled ~ May 5th 2021.

Access: Van Parkups

June 29th, 2020

van park-up.
Entrance to the left by red markers: Feb 2023

On the image below the obvious route is to a) drive in to the right [RED] and when ready to leave, or to allow another parkup, b) reverse along the yellow line and finally drive out via the green line

The area to the left, where reversing is used can accommodate two vehicles. if you are the first try using the lower part.

Gap in the hedge, allowing light to the elm and pine tree

2020

Early June Gavin came to stay, and the area by the pine tree at the bottom of the triangle field was modified, initially Gavin. Gavin laid a row of stones and backfilled a bit then when Gavin left, after some 18 days, I worked on the area for some hours and made up another place a second slot.

Later that Saturday, Afriqnmum, Rob and Raife came to stay for the night and it became clear that what I had done to the initial park-up wasn't level enough, so today, Monday I have reworked the area again. Subsequently improvements were made:
After the area to the right was tested and found to be wanting, brick and stones were added for a night's stay some week ago.
July 17th I permanently built up the area with rubble.
July 19th both slots had hours of improvement.
July 27th Another hour of improvement after visitors have left.
August 26th See comments where from when I can be bothered to note more work on this.

Two areas hard laid and levelled for short term van park-up.

Gavin has widened the track north and cleared an area to the east to park his van for 2 to 3 months as he works on establishing an agricultural presence.
