• Sept. 13th 2026: OK slab moved :) and three beds laid out.
• Sept. 12th 2026: Found a slab of concrete just to the eat of the apple tree and some 6" to 18" below the soil. Have dug it out and moved it a bit.

• Oct 11th 2026: Planning to sow. Clearing two long beds and intend planting individual seeds approx 10cm apart. Fine till; Firm top; 1.6inches deep; firm again and water if rain not due that night. Cover with netting; Do one bed maybe before 11 and one after. Maybe even a third bed. The third bed could beb used for transplants if there are gaps in the first two. use seeds for various years �

• 12 June 2026: Mice have already taken down a dozen heads for food. I was hopping to get a good enough crop this year to get back to bringing a proper harvest, but again I'll be lucky to get enough to store for next year and make a single loaf of bread. �

2025 Crop

• 28th October 2024 I may sow a few ㎡ this autumn
• 30th October 2024 Sown just over 4.5㎡ in short rows (1.5m) across a longer 3.2m bed so as to be easier to weed between the rows. No idea of the variety.

• 28th January Roughed out some 4㎡ east of the relocated greenhouse.
• 1st February Tidied and ready to sow
• 10th February Soaked wheat from 2020 but don't know if it's bald or bearded.
• 12th February Four 8 foot rows were sown
• 13th February Remaining 2020 wheat sown in four more 8 foot rows.

• May 12th Finished weeding both beds, one done a couple of weeks ago.
  

  

• June 14th Looks like I may have been lucky in choice of seeds and have the 'bald' wheat which is easier to de-husk
  

  

• August 13th Major screw up. Two days ago I stared to harvest but decided to leave it until Tuesday but by then mice had eaten at maybe 96%. So whereas I thought I may get a couple of kilos I doubt I'll get 100g :(
