Sewing Shirt #1

Stage Three:Button Panels and Collar

5th Jan: Make collar, but don't fit maybe
6th Jan: Made the collar and although the image below shows how I sewed each face to a stiffer piece of cotton, and then stitched another line to 'fix' them, I had sewn the 'wrong' side. So I have to sew the other side and then unstitch two rows of back sticking to enable sewing to the shirt.

Intend to double up the stitching on both long edges:

The collar colour is not idea. I have a dark red but it was a large piece of material and I thought I didn't want to cut some as I could use the whole for another shirt. Black would have been fine but don't have suitable. I have a small piece of black velvet but that didn't seem fitting. I also wanted something a bit thicker than the body and I have some bits for the cuffs of the same colour.
