May 5th No problem is reoccurring, so could it be a fuel debris issue. ~ Just called Stihl tech and they agreed that if the fuel is a bit old|dirty, as I use 20 year old 2-stroke oil then the pump diaphram may be effected.

May 4th The problem is reoccurring; I wonder if it's a consequnce of the way I hang it, by the engine vertically downward. Maybe there is some fuel debris effecting the pump diaphram I laid it under the workshop for the night.

FS460 would start and it appeared there was no spark. I downloaded the service manual after calling Dougie Bennett. It didn't dawn on me it was Sunday.

Mr Bennett thought it may be the ignition coil and by all accounts it would be a bit of a job me setting a new one up, shuls I try and replace it. So I sent an email to D Bennett as follows; but see after email.

Hi Mr Bennett.

I hope this email gets to you and hope you and yours are well.

Apologies about calling on Sunday ~ I had no idea of the day given this lockdown strategy and that I'm supposed to be isolated at my age.

I have downloaded the service manual and can see that setting the gap between the ignition coil and the flywheel would be a major undertaking for me, the wiring I could handle :)

As I said there were problems two days ago with loss of power and then picking up. Then yesterday I used it for a couple of hours (a few tank-fulls) and by the end it was OK. Earlier in the day I did notice a noise, like a knocking I wasn't used to and so not that happy, but later in the day that went away. After reading the manual I wonder if something worked loose and the armature of the induction coil became damaged but the flywheel magnets don't look scratched.

Hopefully washing it last night hasn't caused a short circuit, so am letting it dry more.

I have a meter and could read nearly 400v max, but maybe that is nowhere near enough to make a spark and I did try another spark plug,

I noticed there is a bolt missing from the starter housing? One of the two.

So if your are still up and running and not too busy I would like to bring it in asap.

I'm still trying it and thought I heard a cough?

All the best

Roger Lovejoy

I tried a few times and decised to leave it in the sun, in case it was a short from my washing the machine. Lo and behold it started around 5pm and ran with no problems. So must email/call D Bennett
