Sunday 12th July
There are still a couple of clouds.
Looking more carefully at the shredder guard images I can see they are different something the dealer didn't notice. They said the only difference was that one for the FS480 didn't have the screw holes to fit it to the gearbox on the FS460, which of course wouldn't matter as it can be fitted to the shaft or drilled out to take the screws.
But no haste. Look at the guards they are actually different.

There are different braces on the back and the cut out for the shaft is different. I hate to think what may happen if I took the dealers advice and bought the circular saw blade and fitted it without the appropriate 'guide ring' and 'rider plate'. Safety, guarantee and efficiency of use problems come to mind.
It seems the dealer is not aware of the details of the products and proper attachments they are selling. They didn't know that not only did the 'guard ring' and 'rider plate' need changing for the circular saw but a) they were supposed to do it and b)the thrust plate guard washer was not to be used.????
See page 24 of 52 of the FS460 manual.
Well I'm not rushing off to the dealers mid work to put the saw blade on and given their credibility I have decided not to buy the circular saw blade.
Now I have a query about the rider plates, of which there are three, although the one for the shredder is called a 'guide ring': the topic of the next page although it is detailed in the email to Shelly Curtis.

It seems to me that there is plan afoot to force money from customers ny making unnecessary changes to the attachments.
Why can they all use the same guide ring and rider plate?
Why can't they make a guard big enough for the shredder and the common blades.
It's all a bit much, and now I wonder if their advice not to purchase the back pack model as it is unwieldy is the truth.
Considering the saw blade maybe the dealer has only sold saw blades for other models and the FS460 has these odd requirements in which case I would have liked to know before agreeing to purchase.
Now a week has gone by and the grass is growing and I'm no nearer feeling I have the prospect of buying the appropriate machine for what I want.
Started at 9:31 this morning, it has taken over 12 hours to create this record today. It is now 21:56 and time to ??????
