Raised PlatformUpdated: March 27th, 2018
Created: March 22nd, 2018This has come about partly from looking into building a cabin type workshop. The idea was to insulate the cabin from the ground by resting it on stones rather than have a concrete foundation.
This inevitably lead to a design that meant having pieces of wood to act as beams to support a floor. If the cabin was to used in all weathers then the floor could be insulated which led to the idea of an enclosed platform some 8" thick on top of main beams of 8", which in turn shall be at least 12" from the ground. See cabinsub_floordesign
So although not now a part of the grandiose idea of a cabin I am about to embark upon building the platform much inline with the design of the cabin support, but with the insulation yet having top flooring.
The problem I still have is getting three 7.2m 'beams' to the land but I will go and build two pillars as an incentive.
So jobs are:
Build pillars from stone already from the land, held together bymortar
- March 27th: Second almost almost done, needs topping by some ? inches
- Levelling using hose
- March 26th: Second almost done. Having used a hose to check levels, the second one needs topping by some 8 inches
