Just boiling one large beetroot, didn't think of weighing it ?
Rubbed some 78/80 grammes of salt into a wet shirt, it may have absorbed 40/50 grammes??

How long to boil the beetroot? I hour has been suggested but after 45 min the beetroot is pretty pale, I've drained and using a bigger pot an dying an old shirt and added the salty water I drained when wringing the saltly shirt.

The shirt is hardly covered in dye water, but I'm not worried if it's uneven dying. I am boiling the shirt and trying to reduce the water forcing the shirt to absorb more dye.

The results so far, with shirt drying on the line are, well I'm not sure there is any :(

I think boiling the beetroot before and after adding the shirt didn't help.

Next to try a colder infusion of beetroot and only heating the dye with mordant a little before adding material
