Carr: A carr is a type of waterlogged wooded terrain that, typically, represents a succession stage between the original reedy swamp and the eventual formation of forest in a sub-maritime climate.

Here referring to the small stand of mostly willow trees in the southern marsh adjacent the river. There were a few large oak trees but most have fallen and the river has eroded some quarter of an acre or more.

This image is from summer 2015 with the west, north and eastern boundaries of the copse outlined in yellow. The small break in the north is the approximate place commonly entered.

The green dots are the locations of the two swamp cypresses,
the orange that of the dawn redwood.

Around 17:30 I was going through the carr checking for any giant hogweed, I'd been there 4 days ago but only checked the northern part (W1) See Giant Hogweed and Swamp Cypress; then I had the unpleasant discovery that someone had cut down one of the Swamp Cypress.

Well today there was another odd intrusion, there were at least four small patches, no more than 200mm in diameter cleared and plastic bottles place, as though someone had panted something and protected it, there was also a plastic carrier bag with more bottles in.

Called 101 and have CR number 031329-17. Went back just after 7pm but the tide is in and it was too difficult to reach. The tide may also have washed the bottles away, so will check in the morning.
