Thrust Washer and Collar Nut
Well they did arrive from Stihl as promised, so that's a good vibe, and now I have the official names.
Part Nos. Numbers respectively: 4128 713 1600 and 4119 642 7600
As the two are used together here is an image of them; together.
The washer is 70mm in diameter and 3mm thick and it's hard to imagine that the Collar nut will act as thrust or spring washer given it's thickness. Tightening the collar nut to produce the thrust or spring effect is likely to strip the nut, or worse still the thread on the shaft. Yet I see no mention of the torque to be used.
I have spoken to technical support who quote the manual, which says to apply firm pressure to tighten it. I am reminded that it is a left hand thread and will tighten itself under load. However I did comment twice that it will hardly act as thrust washer without massive pressure and it is not really aptly named.
Still no need to risk stripping the thread.
Quote the manual Page 23 of 52
Fit the nut (4) counterclockwise and
tighten it down firmly.
These two parts are used to secure all blades to the shaft and although they are included in some of the kits supplied by Radmore and Tucker, Stihl does not include them anywhere. In fact they do not show then in their catalogue or on their website as end user consumables.
But on reading the manual to get the exact quote, above, I noticed instruction for mounting the shredder bar which had not been relayed to me, well not in this way, so see next page > 12
