The Human Side

Never thought temperature would be something I would have an issue with, but I guess age has it's drawbacks. So I have 19°C as the maximum working temperature and a minimum of 23°C where I can just sit back and relax.

The biological problem is that I can only use my blood for one of three purposes, a) brain activity, b) muscle activity or c) digestion. The food option is the cop-out. If the muscles or brain are tired then it's sugar, preferably in the form of chocolate, which is not such a stress on the stomach.

June 2026 was a wakeup call, and since I have to reprogramme my brain to consider if I want to die from heatstroke or a heart attack.

24th/25th June 2026

It was very warm today the 24th, reaching 38°C . It is now 00.28 of the 25th and 28°C outside, and some 31°C indoors at chest height. Just beginning to cool down but still wearing those garments I was clothed in at birth, though they have seen their days. @ 02:13 it is 30.5°C indoors. Will wait another hour before I lay myself down to try and sleep.

I noticed the last few days even breathing was a bit stressful and drinking water wasn't easy. So this location isn't idea, where is?

Cold is easier to deal with as it is easy to warm up, but the vegetation that I rely on so much grows in the warmth, so here I am beside the veggies, well not actually lying next to them, just in my wooden box nearby.

25th June 2026

Managed to sleep for 4 to 5 hours. On rising at 8:17 temp. is 28°C . Temp outdoors @ 15:40 is 35°C.

26th June 2026

Managed to sleep for 7 to 8 hours. On rising at 8:37 temp. is 25°C downstairs.

Crop Cultivation

My general idea is not to water plants after they have established themselves, on the understanding they will then reach deeper and establish a more effective root system. However the ground here is shallow soil as it was waste dump for concrete, metal and greenhouse plastic ground cover and climbing string.

This prolonged dry spell has shown the difficulties. One bed of beans has died, and all the actual edible bean pods are becoming tough, to mentioned a couple. Potatoes, hardly any etc. Young leeks and carrots died. So this year is a bit of a wakeup call.
