Given the concern about Asian Hornets, I am logging sightings of 'hornets'.

There have been hornets for the last decade or more and they seem pretty harmless, noisy, and hence a bit of a concern but not threatening.

2025

• At least half a dozen around though they could be the same ones and only one or two. June: I stopped up a gap in the eves with wire wool when I heard a load buzzing about my head. It took a while to discover what the noise was. I an concerned about insects building nest in the the wooden structure that a) may lead to dampness and rot and b) may then eat the decaying wood.

2024

• So far I have found 1 dead in each of the wagon and the workshop.
• Two sightings buzzing around.
