Increasingly ecological
Reducing consumption and reducing the work load, doesn't mean sitting back and doing less it means taking on the labour personally. Reducing the work load means reducing in on those the consumer exploits.
Doing less for example means cultivating land for food and fuel, which is far more labour intensive for the consumer than going to the shops but is less demanding upon the resources of other people, animals and plants, not to mention high energies as in light. It's not the light that is demanded of but the demand for the light that impacts other consumers, even trees know that.
Physical excessive can result in not just food production and material acquisitions it can also produce endorphins and a feeling of well being, which in turn can be a health booster. However if the activity is done for a high or health then it is ego based and will feed addiction to a greater consumption of resources. Company, sex, drugs including alcohol and sugar are used to satisfy cravings for a 'better' experience. This is often associated with being high and hence spiritual enhancement. However spiritual enhancement as a goal is just another support for the ego, which thereby finds ways to consume in a 'greener' way as of 'late'
Understanding the soul provides the knowledge there is no activity that can promote it. It is self evident and the knowledge shows it is eternal and full. It cannot be added to or subtracted from and the spirit that may try to emulate it's existence does not help as the ego then seeks to enhance the spirit through mind and body enhancements. Spirits can point to higher energies, but not the soul.
Mind and body enhancements may occur in the animal process of survival and through those activities it may be apparent that the soul exists.
When all the vehicles of the spirits have left the void it does not mean the void is empty for it is not a container.

Charity ~ give me a break from your everlasting duty. There is but one life to live that is not mine to give. Take what you will and be still if you will.
Application
Still being grounded to this starship flying with the sun to I know not where or car I nevertheless indulge this animal I inherited.
Clearly I am subject to the weather and the sun's energy provides for warmth and given this Earth's 'spin' and location seasons and rain. Of these I take with little little effort, unlike the crops that I cultivate. So it is to this cultivation I task to minimise. It is always worth noting that minimising expressly avoids using other people to do the work, which is always manual labour. Equally notable is that helping others consume only further engrain the consumption and distracts from the personal labour, most often. Such distractions are the core of consumerism and the capitalist world where vale is place on material assets and money as a lever.
Charity is not using money and other people's labour as a distraction from personal labour although increasingly commonly desirable.
