No further infraction; slept there last night with fire food and trap set.
Sometime before the 12th December, a rat not dought - from the size of the hole - made it's way through the floor of the wagon and ruined all the apples and started on 5kg oats, so serious action was imminent. Slept a few nights but after the first no scratching but bought a cage trap from Trewartha's Callington for £21.99. Have covered two gaps in floor with 4" square brass sheeting.
Stuck half an apple to the sprung platform with peanut butter so the rat couldn't remove it carefully. No catch on the first day but was concerned that I stopped up all the gaps and if one was hiding in the insulation: still not sure, but caught the creature below this morning looking a bit forlorn. Took it to the old Roman site as I'm sure they brought the rats here.
