Trees Behind Caravan 2021

On the image below you can see the stick of ash protruding over the track. I used 7m of ladder resting on the wall. I was standing on the top of the ladder so some 10m head height but I used a climbing harness to hold me to the tree. It's the first time I've used the harness and it makes a lot of difference. 1 I felt safe for the first time for the best part of a decade or more and 2 it gave me more options to position myself :)
7th, 8th, 9th & 10th Jan
Cut a large pieces of ash, hazel and hornbeam.
4th Jan 2021
Roped top of next ash to be topped to another tree to help guide it's fall.
31st Dec
Cut a single main branch that would become the bole of a previously felled main trunk of ash.
17th Dec
Cut a few branches of a hornbeam overhanging the entrance to the field.
16th Dec
Cut small ash to make room for next to the west.
New 10.1m Ladder (3 x 4m)
August 25th, 2020There are four ladders
a) a raggedy aluminium step ladder of some 6 rungs.
b) a wooden ladder with roof hook of 12 rungs
c) a four part folding locking hinged of 16 rungs and
d) a new three part extension ladder of 3 of 13 rungs or using two 22 rungs and all three 31 rungs at some 10.1m (32')
Thenew ladderis from Titan, near Bristol made in the UK bought specifically to lop branches off tall trees.
4th September Delivery went smoothly but here are a few issues.
- No tel. no. on invoice or guidance sheet
- Guidance sheet show instance of only one rung overlap but there is no comment on that.
- No maintenance guide though mentioned in general guide.
- Poorly treated fastenings and rung latches of electro zinc plated mild steel
Making hooks to hang ladder from rear wall of workshop one pair for heaviest double and one for single part.
